The house is located in a tiny village near the Austrian-Slovenian border. From one side it is surrounded by pine trees, from the other by a long green pasture, running from the veranda with far reaching views down through the valley and up to the nearest neighbour a half mile away. It is set far from all clamour of the city, yet is fully equipped – a luxurious resort in a beautiful and intact region. With 6 bedrooms the house provides accommodation for 14 guests. It is equipped with a Finnish sauna and cold water tub; a game room, awaiting the guests with a pool table, table soccer, and a poker table (numerous board games, poker and mah jong set); the storeroom is prepared for table tennis or darts matches. Also sets of badminton, croquet and pétanque are available. The artificial swimming lake, the volleyball court belonging to the property, and the soccer field next to it complete the list. Computer, broadband Internet access and sat. TV ensure that rural won't mean isolated too.
About the location: Lying in the heart of the „Vendvidék” – the historical region where Hungarian Slovenians live in Western Hungary – upon the hills, the Vend Guesthouse was built in the lovely village of Apátistvánfalva. The region is on the Hungarian-Austrian–Slovenian border. It's a wonderfully clear and intact region. Many say that here even the sun shines brighter. The birds sing beautifully, and nature’s calmness is not disturbed by loud traffic here. Far from the clamour of the city, the house is a shelter where travellers breath the fresh air of pine forests. The village to which it lies near to is calm and quiet at all times. However it’s only 10 minutes and we find ourselves in Szentgotthárd, a quiet and lovely town with all amenities - shopping, cinema, restaurants, bars and cafes. There is also a 24 hour medical service available and a pharmacy.
You choose wisely coming to us, no matter whether you are looking for the one of kind calmness of this region, which your soul has been longing for sitting in a neon-lit gloomy office, and just want to sit outside in an armchair listening to birds singing on the trees or if you would like to spend a holiday enjoying refreshing activities - just look at the list of things we offer on this page. We had guests who praised the opportunity to play ball games outside or ping pong inside, and nearly everyone favoured the breath-taking walks or bicycle rides in the forests around.
Weather: The region lies at the feet of the Alps and is often called sub alpine. This implies that the weather is that of a continental area, with 4 seasons largely varying in temperature, however mostly mild.
The region has a particular beauty at all seasons of the year. Springtime the freshness of the green pastures and coniferous forests is matchless. Summertime the weather is hot and ideal for many sports, for sunbathing or for a swim in our lake. Autumns bring an enchanting melancholy - a jaded sun looks over the fog covering the valleys, hiding the grazing roe deer. At the feet of the evergreen pine trees the most delicious mushrooms grow. During wintertime it often snows: we can put on the skis, the ice-skates and bring the sledge from the garage.

Summary: The 14 people the object is advertised for fit there without any problem. All amenities are also sized accordingly, especially cooking equipment. Three large rooms (dining room, living room and game room) allow more people to spread out a bit. The outdoor area is also spacious and well kept, and offers some privacy. The area around is very quiet, still a town for shopping is only a 20 minute drive away. Very well suited for a larger group who wants some quiet and peace.

Summary: In diesem großzügig angelegten Haus mit wunderbarem Garten und Teich findet jede/r seinen Platz und man möchte gar nicht mehr wegfahren. Wir waren mit vier Familien dort, die Kinder lieben dieses nahe an Österreich gelegene Paradies und die Erwachsenen entspannen sich beim Billardspielen und beim Grillen.

Summary: Our holiday at the country house was awesome. The house is beautiful from the inside and outside, everything is very clean and the housekeeper was very kind and did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We will come again for sure :)

Summary: Wir haben Daniels Haus für ein langes Wochenende (3 Nächte) gemietet. Obwohl wir (Sparverein mit 14 bis 20 Personen) jedes Jahr einen anderen Ort bzw. ein anderes Ferienhaus mieten, überlegen wir nach zehn Jahren zum ersten Mal, ob wir die Reise wiederholen sollen. Der Grund ist einfach erklärt: das Ferienhaus bietet alles, was man sich wünschen kann: Garten, Teich, Spielmöglichkeiten, gemütliche Einrichtung. Das Haus entspricht genau der Beschreibung und die Kritik am Stil der Einrichtung konnte niemand nachvollziehen. Ganz im Gegenteil: immer wieder hörte man jemanden sagen: "Hier ist es so schön!" Neben den geräumigen Wohnräumen, mit einer Küche, die alle "Werkzeuge" bereitstellt, einem Wohnzimmer, das uns zum Lesen animierte und dem unglaublichen Spielzimmer (mit Billard, Fußballtisch, etc.) sorgte auch der riesiege Garten mit Terrasse sowie Badeteich und Weitblick für Begeisterung (trotz mäßigem Wetter). Hervorzuheben ist auch die Sauberkeit und die unkomplizierte Abwicklung dank Daniel (Vermieter) und Zoltan (Hausbesorger). Wir können das Ferienhaus allen Freundeskreise und Familien wärmstens empfehlen, da für alle, ob jung oder alt, etwas dabei sein wird: ob aktiv am Spieltisch oder im Garten oder lesend auf einer der gemütlichen Sofas. Rundum perfekt!

Summary: We spent three weeks in this huge house and enjoyed every minute of it. With three children, the garden ( it's more a valley) the little lake and the surrounding forests are a guarentee for a relaxed holiday. The house provides everything you need - big and well eqiupped kitchen, game area, sport equipment, sauna and enormous space. The indoor design is a little bit odd and we needed to get used to it, but as soon as you meet "Uncle" Zoltan, everbody forgott about it. He is such a lovely person , who, took not only care of everthing, but let the kids drive the tractor and organised us fresh eggs and tipps for day trips. The little pond or lake was the highlight of our holiday , not just because of the warmth but because it's fill with dragonflies and frogs, birds are coming to drink ,as well as deer and foxes! It's clear and no chlorine is making your skin itch... Basically for everbody who loves wildife it's a dream and for children it's a great adventure in the outdoor with the comfort of no traffic or lot's of other people getting in your way. If you need activities, they are provided by the National Park authorities or you cross in 10 minutes to Austria and visit castles and the wine regions. We are sure to come back next year, because we dearly loved it! Again a big thank you to Zoltan and Daniel and see you in 2018!

Summary: We highly enjoyed our stay in Hungary. The house is huge and we (four families) spent an amazing short-term holiday there. The kitchen is very well equipped and there are plenty of possibilites for playing - in and outdoor. This year we specially enjoyed the Volleyball play ground. We will definitly come back again!

Summary: It was a pleasure and the nicest weekend i had in years. I really like to thank everybody who was involved to make our Weekend so perfect. You get in the house and everything is there - we felt like at home from the first second on. Special thanks to vanguard and homeaway. I could call them anytime, every questions was answered quickly and friendly. i really really recommend the company or espacially this house. I was there with 13 Friends and we had the times of our life. I wish i could remember everything.
